The course tutorials weren’t just endless text, they made for addictive reading. I couldn’t wait to receive my next tutorial. My assignment research was neither difficult nor arduous.

I once attended a workshop on colour analysis and it was of great interest to me to have my colour palette identified. The experience sowed the seed of interest in personal styling. I scoured the Internet for details of bona fide UK online courses and found that the British College of Professional Styling offered what I was looking for.

The Professional Photo, Film, TV & Personal Stylist’s Course guided me through a fascinating journey of discovery. With my tutor’s expert advice, I learned about the roles and trends in the fashion industry. The course explored the history of fashion, what makes good styling, colour analysis for men and women and provided some very useful tips on how to make clothes look good at every fashion shoot.

The course tutorials weren’t just endless text, they made for addictive reading. I couldn’t wait to receive my next tutorial.  My assignment research was neither difficult nor arduous. One task required me to produce a mood board based on the character Juliet from Romeo and Juliet. That enabled me to get my creative juices really going. The assignments were great fun and I was learning the ropes of the styling industry at the same time.

I personally styled some close friends of mine and I engaged a hairstylist and a photographer to professionally capture the transformation. Their photographs were used in my mock magazine front cover for another assignment. One friend said, ‘Wow, I look fantastic!’, and another said, ‘thanks for a great experience!’. I have since organised an exhibition and used the opportunity to style members of the general public.

I have now set up a personal styling business with a website, promotional materials and advertisements in place. I have already secured a personal styling party night in autumn.  My business has only been operating for a month, so it's early days, but this course has really inspired me to achieve new heights, hence my ALPS mountain logo.

I genuinely recommend this course to any aspiring personal stylist or anyone wishing to enter the world of fashion. Whether it be styling clothes for men and women, joining the editorial field or the theatre and film industry, this is an all-encompassing course.
